A: Samsú is a platform for some of Ireland's most considered and unique places to stay in nature — all designed for slowing down. Some are our own cabins, which we design, build and run ourselves for a fully analogue, off-grid escape. Others are spaces we've hand-picked from owners we trust. What unites every one of them is simple: They are all surrounded by nature, and made to help you slow down. - Q: Where are Samsú's spaces? A: Our spaces are dotted across Ireland's countryside, some an hour's drive from Dublin, others further afield. We're adding new spaces all the time, in some of the most beautiful corners of the country. - Q: What kinds of places can I stay in? A: Right now, beautifully designed off-grid cabins. But Samsú is growing into a home for every kind of unique stay in nature — cottages, lighthouses, cabins, and more unusual places besides. The building changes; the feeling doesn't. Each one is design-led, surrounded by nature, and made for slowing down. - Q: Can I list my own space with Samsú? A: Yes — we're always looking for new spaces. If you have somewhere surrounded by nature and made for slowing down, we'd love to see it. You can find out more on our Partner page. ### Booking - Q: Do I need to pay for my full stay upfront? A: It depends on when your stay is. If your stay is less than 45 days away then the booking would need to be paid in full. If the booking is further away than this, then you can pay a 25% deposit to secure your booking and the remainder of the payment will be taken closer to your stay. - Q: How do I change or cancel my booking? A: Please email bookings@samsu.ie with any change or cancellation requests. These will be treated in line with our bookings terms and conditions which can be found here. (link booking terms and conditions) - Q: Is there a minimum stay? A: This varies across all of the stays on the platform, but most owners operate on a minimum two night stay and mostly three nights on the weekends. Reason being is it takes a while for our minds to calm down from the chaos of everyday life. Policies vary by owners so be sure to check specific listings. - Q: Can I book a group, or more than one space? A: Most Samsú stays are designed for two, but you've options for a group. Our Cucu and Saoirse cabins sit on the same estate, about a five-minute walk apart, so you can book both and bring your people — close enough to share a fire, far enough for your own quiet. ### Digital Detox - Q: What's the difference between "By Samsú" and "Curated by Samsú"? A: "By Samsú" refers to our "in-house" collection of cabins – designed, owned and operated by Samsú. These cabins offer the full Samsú analogue experience – from cassette players to polaroid cameras and everything in between. Each detail carefully crafted to be in line with the Samsú vision. Off-grid, isolated in nature, analogue only and with a lockbox for your devices. Our "curated" collection of stays are hand picked by Rosanna and our team. We partner with like-minded owners to bring you unique stays that align with our values and standards. All stays on our platform are set in nature and designed to slow down in. - Q: How do I know if a stay is digital detox or not? A: All "by Samsú" stays are digital detox by default. You can also check if a stay has a "phone lock box" or has "digital detox" listed in the amenities. Whether digital detox or not, all spaces on the Samsú platform are designed for slowing down. - Q: What makes a stay "digital detox"? A: To start, naturally there will be no wifi. The stay will also include a lockbox for your phone, a polaroid camera and roll of film, as well as an old Nokia phone to use in case of emergencies. - Q: What do you actually do on a digital detox? A: Whatever the day asks for, slowly. Guests cook over the fire, walk, read the books left on the shelf, nap without guilt, and let themselves be a bit bored — which is usually where the good ideas turn up. The point isn't a packed itinerary; it's having the space to do things with your hands instead of your thumbs. - Q: How long should a digital detox be? A: The science shows it takes 48–72 hours for our minds to fully disconnect from our devices. To feel the full effects of time spent offline in nature, 72 hours is the sweet spot. Aside from the science, we also think you need at least a couple of nights to properly switch off and experience Samsú. ### Arrival - Q: Can I have an early check in / late check out? A: All our spaces are owned by independent owners, so policies vary. It's best that you contact the owners directly after you book to see whether they can make any special arrangements, but this is not guaranteed and may incur a fee. ### Amenities - Q: Are all Samsú stays off-grid and analogue? A: Our own cabins — the "By Samsú" collection — are, completely: solar-powered, no wifi, with a lockbox for your phone and the full analogue kit. Our curated spaces vary — some are fully off-grid, others less so, and not all are built around going analogue — but every one is surrounded by nature and made for slowing down. The individual listing will always tell you exactly what to expect. - Q: Is Samsú dog friendly? A: At most of our spaces, yes — even pups need to switch off from chasing city pigeons. Please note owners may charge a fee for pets which covers extra cleaning. Please check individual listings to ensure they are dog friendly. ## Journal Posts - How to reduce your phone use (and get into nature more): https://samsu.ie/journal/how-to-reduce-your-phone-use - If you've ever caught yourself saying, "I wish I could delete Whatsapp or Tiktok", you're not alone. 80% of us check our phones within the first 30 minutes of waking up. 3 min read.
