Saoirse is the original Samsú digital-detox cabin — Off-grid, offline, and off the beaten track, it's nestled on the edge of a forest, where you'll wake to morning birdsong and huge picture windows framing the woodland outside.
Saoirse has a fully equipped kitchen — two hobs, a mini fridge, and everything you need to cook your favourite meals, inside or out. Built for going analogue, you'll arrive to a phone lockbox, a film camera, an old Nokia for emergencies, board games, books, and a few other essentials for a few nights of slow living. There's an indoor log burner, an outdoor fire pit, and an outdoor bath in a forest for those starry evenings. You'll also enjoy a complimentary three-hour session in our forest sauna as part of every stay.

Saoirse - perfect if you love forest bathing and perhaps want to bring your dog
Who is Saoirse for?
Only an hour from Dublin, Saoirse is for the burnt-out — couples, friends, and solo travellers who want to properly switch off and spend real time in nature. If you love forest bathing, woodland walks, and need a digital detox, this is your cabin.
Saoirse comes with the signature Samsú analogue kit, and no Wi-Fi, of course. As the original Samsú cabin, it's the purest version of the idea — no architectural showpiece, just you, the trees, and the quiet. If you've been meaning to go analogue for months and never quite manage it, this is the cabin that makes you.
Things to note: there's a 300m walk to the cabin from the carpark, so pack outdoor shoes depending on the weather. Saoirse is on the same 350-acre land as our Cucu cabin, about a five-minute walk apart but far enough that you'll never see each other — so the two can be booked together for a group of four.

What’s there to do?
You're on the edge of Ireland's Ancient East. A short drive brings you to Newgrange and the Boyne Valley — a 5,000-year-old passage tomb, older than the pyramids — and to the Hill of Ward just outside Athboy, an Iron Age royal site and ancient home of the Samhain fires.
But Saoirse's real pull is closer in: 350 acres of native woodland and meadow on your doorstep to wander whenever you'd rather not drive at all.
We would advise that if you’re coming to Saoirse and Samsú for a digital detox and the full analogue experience, it is best enjoyed by not leaving at all
Have a soak in the middle of a forest and experience the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-yoku for real.
Enjoy a three hour session in our forest sauna nestled on the edge of a lake, enjoy soaking up the nature views while you sweat.
What's in the cabin?
Wood Fired Stove
Outdoor Bath
Phone Lockbox
Outdoor Firepit
Organic Toiletries
King Size Bed
Hot Shower & Eco-Toilet
Indoor Wood Stove
Fridge And Gas Hob
Film Camera
Coffee Beans & Tea
Cassette Player & Tapes
Board Games, Books & Radio
Salt Pepper, Oil, And Sugar
Towels And Bed Linen
Parking 300m
And, how do I get to the cabin?
Once booked, we will provide you with a what3words pin for you to find your cabin. But for now you can know it’s located on the Meath & Westmeath border between Athboy and Delvin.
By car
80 km from Dublin and a journey time of 1 hr.
By Public transport
Approximately 1:45 hr from Bus Aras Station on the 111 bus and including a 10 minute taxi at the end. We recommend checking timetables in advance depending on the day of the week and time and pre-booking the taxi in advance to avoid waiting times.

Saoirse is the ultimate escape! It was absolutely incredible from the walk in, being able to peak at the cabin through the trees, to the walk back out again being able to thank the trees and the forest for taking all our fears and worries away again.

Take a walk around to the right and find the lake, along the way take time to frolick in the fields and just experience the complete freedom of nature all around you, breathe with the trees and let them take your worries away with every exhale!
Use the experience as an opportunity to learn something new - how to start a fire, how to cook outside on the fire, or even just how to live without your phone - you will 100% be surprised. Take notice of the things you normally would reach for your phone for and how you always manage to figure it out yourself.
We will 100% be back to Samsu.

The attention to detail inside and outside the cabin was a bonus, but it was the fundamental immersive connection with nature that brought everything together. I had no idea how much this would impact me and I am pleasantly surprised by how much it did. It would appear my soul is still alive. I cannot recommend this getaway enough and I cannot think of anybody who would not benefit from it. We had a mini honeymoon at Saoirse after our wedding and it was the perfect place to decompress and relax! We had a great time listening to the cassettes while we played games. 2nd time staying at Saoirse. We were blown away with the first experience last year, but this year was even better. Amazing little break, removing all electronic devices from your life is such a freeing feeling. Immersing in books, board games and cards brought us back to me and my partners childhood. We would (and have) recommended this to so many friends and family.2nd time staying at Saoirse. We were blown away with the first experience last year, but this year was even better. We had the most beautiful, peaceful and zen weekend. It was time so well spent cooking in the cabin, reading from the bed listening and watching the rain from the big windows beside the bed and most importantly time off our phones! The grounds are beautiful and the outdoor seaweed bath was just amazing. I can't wait to go back and I would highly recommend Samsú.We had the most beautiful, peaceful and zen weekend. Our recent stay at Saoirse was among the best holidays we have ever had. A few short hours into the stay, I felt my centre of gravity and shoulders drop. The 3 days there left me feeling the most rested I've felt in many years, and that feeling continues. Our recent stay at Saoirse was among the best holidays we have ever had. I had a beautiful time staying in the Saoirse cabin in Westmeath. Just about everything has been considered, right down to marshmallows for toasting over an open fire. My first solo trip and I've already rebooked.I had a beautiful time staying in the Saoirse cabin in Westmeath. Myself and my wife had an incredible stay at Saoirse. It should be a mandatory retreat for everyone at least once a year! We felt more relaxed and refreshed than we had in months. The only bit we weren't happy about was leaving.Myself and my wife had an incredible stay at Saoirse. It should be a mandatory retreat for everyone at least once a year!
